A singing bowl, also known as a Himalayan bowl or cup gong, is a musical instrument of Buddhist meditation, in use since ancient times. They are traditionally played in Tibet, Nepal, India, China, Japan, and Korea, mostly by Buddhist monks and in monasteries.
The instrument is made of metal, often including precious metals such as silver and gold. It is found and made with various metal composition and contents with gold, silver, copper, tin, zinc, lead, iron, nickel, mercury, brass and various others. A singing bowls with higher metal contents produces a higher quality sound than low metal contents singing bowls.
